Martin Custom Electric Guitars
As a musician and guitar player for many years, I am offering my ability to build and rewire guitars for those that want something different from their instrument.
All instruments are rewired or made to order on a first come first serve basis. The average turn around time for an instrument is 3-4 weeks.
Anything from a guitar from scratch or a special rewiring is possible, with some of the following suggestions:

This is a custom built Tele. It is based on a Fender Telecaster style, has a 1960 Fender bridge with adjustable bridge pieces (3). This was the style in the sixties. It also has two string trees and 1970's style wiring. The body is basswood and the bridge pickup is an alnico set to balance with the neck pickup which is a stock item. I finished it in natural clear satin (7 coats) and added the black pickguard for a good contrast. It was my first attempt in years to build a full guitar from parts, and it came out fantastic! It has that famous "twang" that Telecasters are known for, like Springsteen's or like a lot of country artists. It was purchased by a woman in Florida, who bought another of my custom guitars. |

This is my personal custom Strat. It has a Fender Maple neck and a pearl pickguard. There are 5 coats of red laquer, 4 coats of clear and 3 coats of polish in this finish on top of an alder wood body. It has 1957 (reissued) pickups to give it that old style Stratocaster sound, and it was rewired for some exceptional high tones to copy the likes of Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughn. The action at the octave is about 1 penny. It is so easy to play and has a wide range of tones, from screaming highs to mellow mids and lows. Since this picture was taken, the bridge has been replaced with a Wilkinson tailpiece and the pots have been upgraded to full size. For some reason the mini-pots just don't respond like the full size ones. It also has the tone pot setup for the bridge pickup. I have also a replacement pickguard that has a neck humbucker and two single poles in case I want a richer sound. The body is carved out to accept either pickguard setup. |

Here is an SG style custom that was built for my personal use, but I decided to sell it. (I have too many guitars already). The black body has a set neck and a nitro laquer finish. I have purchased a number of these body/neck combos from this company (Titan) and they are excellent. The pickups are Alnico humbuckers in the dual setup. They are wired in the Seymour Duncan style with a lean toward the 80's Les Pauls in the pots and capacitors. The three way switch is Gibson stock, as well as the Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar. The black pickguard and the contrasting ivory pickup rings make for a stylish look. This guitar was sold to a customer in Florida. |

This is my newest Tele creation. It is similar in appearance to the first Tele copy that I built, but there are many differences. I made it for my personal use. The body is solid alder wood and was carved only for these pickups. The neck was custom designed for my hand size and the headstock was cut for the single string tree support. The nut is bone and was carved by a local luthier for my special needs. The pickups are Alnico special wraps that are wax dipped to reduce any hum and to secure the wiring. The wiring is special, copied after the 1952 Telecaster. It was the only year that the .01 capacitors were used, and the pots are full size Alphas. All the wiring is done in single strand with old style insulation (but not cloth). The pickguard is a three ply black, and the finish on the body is 8 coats of high gloss and two coats of satin to bring out the wood finish. Final touches are the "ashtray" pickup cover and the custom wired 5 way switch. The string ferrules are from Fender, as well as the three bridge supports. Action is very good and this guitar has a wide range of tones from "twang" to mellow. |
